Match the Finish to the Body Material
Padlock color and surface finish should be selected after the body material and construction are confirmed. Brass, stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum alloy and engineering plastics require different finishing methods and cannot always produce the same appearance.
Raviron supports polished, plated, coated, colored and other model-specific finish directions for OEM and private label padlock programs. The available process depends on the product structure, material, required color, logo method and intended application.
A reference padlock, physical finish sample or clear photograph helps us identify the closest workable option before quotation.
Polished and Brushed Finishes
Polishing is commonly used to create a smoother and more reflective surface on selected brass or stainless steel parts. The required gloss level should be confirmed because a bright finish and a softer satin appearance require different reference standards.
Brushed finishes provide a directional metal texture and are more suitable for selected stainless steel or metal-body designs. Buyers should confirm the brushing direction, texture depth and acceptable appearance range.
Inspection should cover scratches, polishing marks, uneven texture, visible spots and differences between production batches.
Plating and Coating Options
Plating can be used on selected lock bodies, shackles and metal components to achieve a required appearance or surface protection. The plating type, color and performance requirement must be confirmed for the specific model.
Coating can provide black, silver or other colored finishes on suitable bodies and components. Coverage around edges, holes and recessed areas requires particular attention because these positions may reveal uneven application.
For outdoor-oriented or corrosion-sensitive orders, buyers should provide the required test method and acceptance criteria. A plated or coated appearance alone does not confirm a specific corrosion-resistance level.
The finish requirements for laminated steel padlocks should be reviewed together with the layered body construction and intended use.
Colored and Anodized Aluminum Bodies
Aluminum padlocks are suitable for programs requiring multiple body colors, visible product identification or coordinated private label ranges. Depending on the selected model, the surface may use anodized or coated finishes.
Important confirmation points include:
- Pantone or physical color reference
- Gloss or matte appearance
- Surface texture
- Color consistency between batches
- Logo contrast
- Shackle and body color combination
- Packaging protection
Available directions can be reviewed through our aluminum padlocks range.
Color Reference and Logo Compatibility
A color shown on a screen may not match the final metal surface. Lighting, base material, texture and finishing method can all influence the result. Buyers should provide a Pantone reference where applicable, but a physical sample is preferable when close matching is required.
Logo artwork should be reviewed together with the surface finish. A highly reflective body, textured coating or curved marking area may affect logo clarity and contrast. The logo method, size, position and color should therefore be included in the sample approval.
Sample Approval and Quality Inspection
Custom finish samples normally take around 7–15 days when an existing model and available finishing process are used. A new color, special coating, structural change or new material combination may require additional evaluation.
The approved sample should confirm:
- Body and shackle color
- Gloss and surface texture
- Finish coverage
- Logo position and clarity
- Scratches, spots or uneven areas
- Batch appearance standard
- Packaging contact points
Protective wrapping, individual boxes, blister packs or internal inserts may be required to reduce surface contact during packing and transportation.
MOQ, Lead Time and Quotation Details
Standard models usually start around 500–1,000 pieces per style. OEM colors, finishes and private label orders commonly start around 1,000–3,000 pieces, depending on the model, process, color quantity and packaging.
Standard bulk production normally takes around 25–35 days. More complex customized finishes may require around 35–45 days after sample approval.
For a quotation, please provide the padlock model, body material, required color, surface finish, quantity per color, logo, packaging and destination country. You can send your color reference and product requirements for review.
