Assembly Turns Separate Components into a Working Lock
Padlock performance depends on how accurately the body, cylinder, shackle, springs and internal locking components work together. A suitable material or well-machined component cannot compensate for incorrect assembly, poor component fit or mismatched keys.
Raviron assembles padlocks according to the confirmed model specification and, where applicable, the approved sample. The assembly sequence varies between brass, laminated steel, aluminum, disc, combination and electronic padlocks. Each production order therefore requires a clearly defined structure, keying arrangement, finish and packing specification before assembly begins.

Component Preparation Before Assembly
Lock bodies, shackles, cylinders, plugs, springs, locking elements and keys are organized by model and production batch before they enter assembly. Dimensions and component condition must correspond to the confirmed specification.
The assembly team checks whether the cylinder fits the body correctly, whether the shackle diameter and clearance match the selected model, and whether small internal parts are complete. Mixed components can cause excessive movement, difficult key rotation or unreliable locking, so batch identification and component separation are important for repeat production.

Lock Body, Cylinder and Shackle Assembly
During assembly, the cylinder and locking mechanism are fitted into the prepared lock body, followed by the shackle, springs and retaining components required by the model. The assembled mechanism must allow the shackle to close securely and release without abnormal resistance.
Critical checks include cylinder position, internal component movement, shackle engagement and the fit between processed parts. For laminated steel models, body layers and fastening must also remain aligned. Disc locks and combination locks require model-specific assembly because their body construction and opening mechanisms differ from conventional keyed padlocks.
Assembly is coordinated with earlier Lock Cylinder & Key Processing so the selected cylinder and key configuration remain traceable through production.
Key Matching and Keying Arrangements
Key matching is not simply adding keys to a finished lock. Each supplied key must operate the intended cylinder consistently. Key insertion, rotation, locking and release are checked during assembly and again during finished-lock inspection.
Buyers should specify the required keying arrangement before quotation:
- Keyed Different (KD): each padlock operates with its own key.
- Keyed Alike (KA): multiple padlocks operate with the same key.
- Grouped KA: separate keyed-alike groups within one order.
- Master-key requirements: reviewed according to the selected cylinder, model and order quantity.
The number of keys per lock, key material, key head style, key ring and any key coding or identification requirements should also be confirmed. Complex keying arrangements may affect sample development, MOQ, production time and packing control.
In-Process Assembly Checks
Operators check component completeness, cylinder retention, key movement, shackle closure and general appearance during assembly. Products with incorrect fit, abnormal resistance or mismatched keys are separated for review rather than passed directly to packing.
Assembly inspection does not replace final Lock Function Testing. Finished locks still require checks against the approved specification, including repeated opening and closing, key removal position, shackle engagement and mechanism operation.
Information Required for Production Confirmation
For an accurate quotation and assembly plan, provide the padlock model, body and shackle dimensions, cylinder type, order quantity, required keying arrangement and number of keys per lock. Include any logo, finish, key marking, packaging or grouped-key identification requirements.
Standard models usually have fewer assembly variables. OEM projects involving structural changes, special cylinders or grouped key systems may require a sample before bulk production. Once approved, the confirmed specification and sample become the reference for assembly, inspection and repeat-order control.
